Christine trained first as a Graphic Designer and Illustrater and worked creating Feminist posters.
She works in Glass, Ceramics, Paint, Collage,Animation,Installations, Sculpture.

Christine’s work is auto-biographical, dealing with the rape and then domestic violence that she experienced as a teenager and has dramatically effected her throughout her life. She works across a variety of mediums to explore issues around sexual violence agianst women and domestic abuse. Her work questions ingrained cultural narratives that are centred around male dominance and romantic idealism.
Glass Slipper references the fairytale of Cinderella, using her iconic glass slipper as a symbol of female sexuality and romantic victimhood. This glass slipper is made from smashed telephone box glass, sharp shards pierce the shoe representing the violation of rape and assault.

This poster was created for the Wellington Women’s Refuge in New Zealand in 1980. Drawing on her own experience as a victim of domestic violence Christine designed a poster which highlights the repetitive nature of domestic abuse, in a bid to encourage women to escape the cycle.
