21st Century Woman is a series of collage works which explore the quiet solidarity of womanhood and the interconnected nature between other women. These works exist as a nod to all women, representing each differing experience and approach to life alongside opening a dialogue surrounding the autonomy of the female existence and discovering this idea of how we exist without social pressures.
I wanted this series to present a woman simply existing — inhabiting space without judgment or expectation. Through found imagery, mostly taken from magazines that carry their own assumptions about women’s bodies, I reclaim and reshape what has already been appropriated. In doing so, I aim to create space for conversation, community, and resistance — and to celebrate the magnitude and beauty of the female experience, just as it is.
For me, collage becomes a way to weave our shared experiences into something new. What we choose to cut, alter, or assemble reveals how each of us interprets identity and belonging.
